Geographically Weighted Regression Workshop > APRIL 07

In many situations one global regression model does not necessarily hold true across an entire study area.

GWR is a regression technique that recognises the fallacy of ‘global’ modelling.  The ‘One size fits all’ approach is not always appropriate as the ‘local’ effect on data relationships can be important to understand.  GWR models allow variation over geographical space which when incorporated into a GIS environment can provide a valuable insight into the spatial relationships of data.
